We're here to help you get the most out of RemoteOne.
Make sure your iPhone and TV are on the same Wi-Fi network. RemoteOne discovers TVs over your local network — it won't find devices on a different subnet or guest network. If nothing appears, tap Scan Again at the bottom of the device list. Also check that your TV is powered on and connected to Wi-Fi (not Ethernet only for some models).
This usually means your TV's IP address changed. Most routers assign dynamic IPs — you can fix this by setting a static IP or DHCP reservation for your TV in your router settings. RemoteOne stores pairing credentials securely in your device's Keychain and reconnects automatically when the TV is reachable at the same address. On Samsung TVs specifically, a factory reset or major firmware update can also invalidate the stored token — in that case just re-pair once and you're set.
RemoteOne works over Wi-Fi with Samsung Smart TVs (2015 and newer), LG webOS TVs, Apple TV (4th gen and newer), Roku devices (including Roku-powered TCL and Hisense models), Amazon Fire TV, Sony Bravia, Vizio SmartCast, and Google/Android TVs. For older IR-only TVs, soundbars, AV receivers, projectors, cable boxes, air conditioners, and more, pair an affordable Broadlink Wi-Fi IR hub (~$25) and RemoteOne unlocks 500+ IR brands and 40,000+ codes.
First-time setup runs in the official Broadlink app: plug the hub in, open Broadlink, and add it to your Wi-Fi network. Once it's online, open RemoteOne — the hub is discovered automatically on your local network. Pick the brand and model of the device you want to control (TV, soundbar, AC, projector, etc.) and RemoteOne assigns the right IR code set. You can pair multiple devices to a single hub.
Yes. RemoteOne's Rooms feature lets you group devices by location — Living Room, Bedroom, Office — and switch between them with a tap. Each room can mix smart TVs and IR devices (e.g. Apple TV + a dumb TV controlled via a Broadlink hub), and scenes can be scoped to a specific room. Multi-room is a RemoteOne Pro feature.
A Scene is a one-tap routine that runs a sequence of commands across multiple devices — turn on the TV, switch to HDMI 2, wake the Apple TV, open Netflix, dim the volume. Build it once in Settings → Scenes, then tap it from the home screen or ask Siri: "Hey Siri, run Movie Night." Scenes are exposed as Siri Shortcuts automatically. Scenes are a Pro feature.
Yes — RemoteOne is a universal app and runs on iPhone and iPad with layouts tuned for each. Your devices, themes, scenes, and Pro entitlement sync between them via iCloud.
The Watch app relays commands through your iPhone, so your phone needs to be reachable on the same Wi-Fi network as your TV. A cellular Apple Watch on its own can't reach devices on your home network. If your phone is in the next room on Wi-Fi, everything works normally.
Tap the paintbrush icon in the top corner of the remote screen to open the theme picker. You can also change themes from Settings. On themes with a trackpad (like Liquid Glass and Neumorphic Clay), a three-finger tap on the trackpad cycles themes too. Your theme syncs to the Apple Watch app automatically.
Smart TV control requires Wi-Fi. IR control via a Broadlink hub requires the hub to be on your Wi-Fi network, though it doesn't need internet access once paired. RemoteOne does not require a Lightning or USB-C IR dongle — all IR goes through the Wi-Fi hub.
No personal data. RemoteOne stores your device credentials locally in the iOS Keychain and never sends them to our servers. We use TelemetryDeck for anonymous, aggregate usage analytics (no device IDs, no IP logging). Full details in our Privacy Policy.
The Lifetime tier is Family Sharing eligible. After purchasing, make sure Family Sharing is enabled in iPhone Settings → [Your Name] → Family Sharing and that "Share My Purchases" is on. Up to five family members can then download RemoteOne and get Pro automatically — no extra purchase needed. (Monthly and yearly subscriptions are not Family Sharing eligible per Apple's policy.)
Yes. The Watch app gives you volume, playback, and directional navigation from your wrist. It syncs your active theme and includes a watch face complication showing your TV's connection status. The Watch app requires RemoteOne Pro.
Pro unlocks the Apple Watch app, smart scenes, multi-room control, premium themes, and IR device control via Broadlink. The core remote with two smart TV devices works free forever. The Lifetime tier is Family Sharing eligible — buy once, share with up to five family members.
For most households, yes. Harmony's "Activities" — one-tap routines that power on multiple devices, switch inputs, and land you on your content — are called Scenes in RemoteOne and work the same way. Build a Movie Night scene once (TV on, Apple TV awake, Netflix opened) and tap it to run. Or ask Siri: "Hey Siri, run Movie Night." The main difference: RemoteOne controls smart devices over Wi-Fi directly from your phone, so you don't need a separate Harmony Hub. For legacy IR-only gear, a single Broadlink Wi-Fi IR hub (~$25) gives you coverage across every category — TVs, soundbars, receivers, cable boxes, ACs, projectors, and fans.
If RemoteOne doesn't recognize your exact model, you can teach it any button from your physical remote. Open Settings → Teach a Button, point your original remote at the Broadlink, and press the button you want to capture. RemoteOne records the exact signal and adds it to your device's profile.
RemoteOne checks your TV connection when you return to the app. This typically takes under a second. If it's consistently slow, make sure your TV has a stable Wi-Fi connection and consider assigning it a static IP in your router settings.
